BNET Launcher

The Bethesda Launcher is a desktop app that allows gamers to download and play purchased games. I was asked to lead the app's design and collaborate directly with Bethesda. My main goal was to create a mood and design unique to the Bethesda gamer.

Version 1 - Mirror

I wanted to display an aesthetic that is familiar to the client. This version is inspired by the look and feel of the Bethesda website's Game Hub Page.

Version 2 - Motion

I really wanted to push this app to feel alive and in constant motion. The background would be a consistent video loop of the gamer's last played game. Once the Continue Game CTA is clicked, the UI animates out and drives the gamer into a seamless motion, simulating "diving straight into the game". I believe moments like these create an excitement that motivates the user to play.

Version 3 - Nostalgia

Lastly, I thought a lot about creating a sense of space by using game box-art. As a kid, I loved going to the game store to see the latest games. I learned more about each game by reading the back, looking at screenshots and leaping into the synopsis. (This was pre-internet, if you haven't caught on.) I really wanted to have that personal, relatable spirit within this design.
